Pine trees make a beautiful addition to any landscape, classified within the Pinaceae family and the Pinus genus. Featuring long evergreen needles grouped in bundles, they display a variety of shapes that enhance their surroundings. Renowned for their durability and versatility, these trees fulfill both ornamental and practical roles. Primarily found in the Northern Hemisphere, pine trees offer a touch of natural elegance, whether in forests or your personal garden.​

Preferred soil conditions:

Moist, well drained organic soil types. Small amount of sandy or clay soil acceptable.

No standing water for lengths of time. 

Mulch after planting and water as necessary for the first year and periods of drought thereafter.

Eastern White Pine  (Pinus strobus)

The Eastern White Pine is a magnificent, fast-growing conifer native to northeastern North America, reaching heights of over 150 feet. This towering tree not only enhances the landscape with its blue-green needles but also has remarkable longevity, living for more than 200 years. Highly regarded for its aesthetic appeal and quality lumber, the Eastern White Pine holds special significance as the

state tree of Maine and Michigan, as well as the provincial tree of Ontario!
