Maples, or Acer, are a captivating genus of trees and shrubs, boasting approximately 132 species. Preferred soil conditions:

Moist, well drained organic soil types. Small amount of sandy or clay soil acceptable.

No standing water for lengths of time. 

Mulch after planting and water as necessary for the first year and periods of drought thereafter.
